Jewelry Care
Base Metals like Copper, Brass (Nugold), + Nickel Silver are lower end metals + require special care.
*These metals WILL tarnish + depending on your unique body chemistry, will most likely turn you green where the metal touches. NOT all bodies react this way + I have no way of knowing if this is you or not. Here are some tips:
TARNISH IS NOT PERMANENT on surfaces like cuffs + rings. When a chain tarnishes, unfortunately its done for.
- Coat with clear nail polish to protect skin from turning (You'll have to keep reapplying)
- Keep base metals out of water
- Keep base metals away from aerosols + perfumes
- Clean your cuff or money clip with the polishing pad provided or use any jewelry polishing cloth, pad or cream.
When in doubt, always choose 14k Gold Fill or Sterling Silver.
A Note about Sterling Silver: Sterling contains alloy which is why it tarnishes (turns black). The reason you should choose sterling over a base metal is that sterling WON'T turn you green, it still tarnishes + must be cleaned with sterling cleaner. ***In rare occasions + if you are a particularly acidic body, Sterling will turn black rapidly (you will just have to work harder to clean the tarnish off)
Chain:
All of my bar + circle charms are 14kfill + sterling silver. These chains are delicate + must be handled with care. Chain replacements are listed under Bar + Circle tabs.
